Things to do in Takachiho Gorge

The day we set off happened to be the first day of Japan's Golden Week, and there was a lot of traffic. Arrived two and a half hours later than scheduled. But the tour guide Xiao An is very nice. Would rather work overtime to give us enough time to tour.

Our tour from Fukuoka to the stunning Takachiho Gorge was long and exhausting… but our tour guide Rikuto turned it into a hilarious, unforgettable adventure. Between his jokes and fun facts, we barely noticed how far we traveled. The gorge was breathtaking—but honestly, the Rikuto’s commentary was half the reason we’ll remember this day forever. Highly recommend if you like your sightseeing with a side of laughs!

First time in Japan, the scenery is even more spectacular than in the photos. We were lucky enough to be able to enter the Aso volcanic area. Most of my friends have come here several times but have failed. I highly recommend it.

The overall scenery is quite good, and the itinerary is very compact and fulfilling. Although it was during Japan's Golden Week and the traffic was very serious, the tour guide tried his best to arrange for us to visit all the attractions. Several tourists were late for the train, and the tour guide also tried to coordinate the time of the train, which was not easy.

In the morning, I went to the Sakuramachi bus terminal to catch the bus. The driver called out our names and confirmed our seats. There were several Taiwanese people on the bus. The ride took about 3 hours. We took a short break on the way. The forest we passed by was very beautiful. Then someone would pick us up at our destination. After lunch, we walked around nearby. The canyon was very beautiful. Unfortunately, we couldn't take a boat trip because it was fully booked. We had to walk back to the bus station on the way back and take another 3-hour bus ride back to Kumamoto. It was already 8 o'clock in the evening when we arrived in Kumamoto.

The first time I tried a one-day tour, I met a great tour guide, Zhu Zhu, who was very kind, responsible and enthusiastic. I felt very lucky! We set out from Fukuoka to Takachiho for the day. It was very easy to take the bus without having to think about it. The reserved time for the tour was also sufficient. I saw everything I wanted to see. Takachiho is very beautiful and very cost-effective.

The day of departure happened to be a holiday in Japan, so there was a lot of traffic. The tour guide was very helpful in delaying our visit to the tourist attractions so that we could complete this one-day tour!
