Things to do in Kamikochi

Because I wanted to take both routes in Kamikochi, I bought two different Kamikochi one-day tour plans for two days in a row. I like this one better XD. The tour guide Amy is great, and there are two drop-off points to choose from, which makes the hiking route flexible Higher again! Like it!

Kamikochi is like a fairyland. The entire trip to Tateyama Kurobe requires a variety of means of transportation. Participating in the trip makes it much easier for independent travelers. Especially the tour guide Mr. Guo is very enthusiastic and responsible. It is a highly recommended trip.

Opened up my experience with a local tour organized by HIS Company. It was great. They prepared a pamphlet written in English. The time signs were clear. There was a break every 2 hours. The time was right to get off and visit each place. The accommodation was in an onsen near Kamikochi. However, it was quite old. There were some stains. It was a bit stuffy. But the view and the onsen were okay.

Kamikochi is so beautiful! It's like a natural oxygen bar and air-conditioned room. It's so comfortable to walk and feel the mountain breeze. It's also suitable for hiking. The restaurant here is surprisingly delicious. It's a worthwhile attraction.

Both the tour guide, Kaku, and the driver were very experienced. They could manage our whole trip with care and attentive. Although the destinations were not as pleasant as we expected, the hotel we stayed and its buffet could really add more credits to the tour.

After comparing several Kamikochi one-day tours, my selection criterion is actually only if I can stay in Kamikochi for a longer time (4 hours is the best, most tours are 3.5 hours), it’s really Because I really want to see the dreamy Myojin Pond with my own eyes (take the [Kappa Bridge-Myojin Pond] route), only this KLOOK tour advertises "enjoy four hours of leisurely exploration in Kamikochi!". In fact, I did explore the 7-kilometer round-trip route [Kappa Bridge-Myojin Pond] in a relaxed and comfortable way. Although it was still the rainy season, I walked in heavy rain all the way, and saw mist instead. The dreamlike Mingshen Pond is also an unexpected gain!

If you like the outdoors, I highly recommend adding this trip to your trip in Japan. The tour guide, Ms. Li, was very patient in introducing the itinerary. The outbound trip takes about three to three and a half hours, and the round trip takes six or seven hours, but if the weather is good it will be a worthwhile trip. The temperature in Kamikochi will be lower than outside and it is very cool. Remember to take the two routes, either from Taisho Pond or from Myojin Pond. Most people choose the former, which is 3-4km and can be easily completed in about 1 hour. I personally feel that I have plenty of time and can stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
