1. See the historic Baluarte Watch Tower
Visit the 400-year-old Baluarte Watch Tower, tucked inside the charming town of Luna. Built by the Spaniards to watch out for possible attacks and invasions, it also served as a communication tower during the Second World War. The ancient tower, which stood the test of time along the beach coast, became a popular spot for picture taking. Totally Instagrammable!

2. Taste quality wines and fresh grapes at a local vineyard
Did you know that there are plenty of vineyards in La Union? There are opportunities to experience grape-picking and wine tasting too! Taste the sweetness of freshly-picked grapes and quality wines when you head out to the municipality of Bauang where you can find different vineyards and grape farms. Visit the Lomboy Farms, home of “Philippines’ Grape King” Avelino Lomboy, who introduced the grape industry to the province.

Appreciate the masterpieces of Korean artist Vong Kim and his students who worked on the expertly sculpted stones and rocks at the open art gallery Kamay na Bato. Aside from the sculptures, there are colorful three-dimensional artworks too. Ideal place to bring the young and young-at-hearts for an afternoon of picture-takings!

5. Have a fun picnic at the Agoo Eco Fun World
The Agoo Eco Fun World is a perfect bonding spot for families and friends! With thousands of towering Agoho trees, many tourists come to this picturesque man-made forest to enjoy nature, enjoy outdoor activities, do photoshoots, and have picnics. Surrounded by scenic landscapes, you could rent picnic huts or set up your own by the beach. Just don’t forget to clean up after!

6. Try the famous Halo Halo de Iloko
Who doesn’t love Halo-Halo? Made with shaved ice, sweetened beans, gulaman, fruit pieces, pinipig, macapuno, ube jam, leche flan, evaporated milk, and usually topped with a delicious serving of ice cream, Halo-halo is the ultimate Filipino dessert! There are different ways and versions to make a colorful glass of Halo-Halo. One of which is the Halo Halo de Iloko, which you have to try yourself to know what the buzz is all about.

7. Revisit the past at Pindangan Ruins
Walk among old cobblestones and revisit history when you come to the sacred Pindangan Ruins. Holy and historical, the Pindangan Ruins used to be the first Catholic Church of San Fernando, La Union that was built by the Spanish priests in 1764. It was said that an earthquake badly affected the church in the 1800s, and since then, a lot of changes transpired. Presently, Pindangan Ruins is under the care of the neighboring Carmelite Sisters.

8. Hike Mount Puraw
Mount Puraw is a popular trekking spot in La Union as it is ideal for both hiking beginners and veterans. Many tourists recommend hiking during the early hours of the day in order to welcome the sunrise and see a majestic sea of clouds at the peak. Likewise, others recommend reaching the peak during the late afternoon to see the beauty and feel the warmth of the sunset. Don’t worry about the time you choose to visit, Mount Puraw is guaranteed to offer a stunning view.
