The Philippines is known as a religious country in Asia. Because of our strong Spanish influences, about 86% of Filipinos are Roman Catholics to this day. Faith has always been a part of our lives, and this is evident in the ways we venerate all-things religious. As such, we have many liturgical events and traditions that we honor year-round. This includes visiting churches, especially during Lent. Thanks to our solid Catholic foundation, our country is filled with majestic, well-preserved centuries-old cathedrals and parishes.
