Have a romantic moment at these filming locations from the movie!
We’re still not over Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards heart-wrenching and bittersweet romp as Joy Fabregas and Ethan Del Rosario in Cathy Garcia-Molina’s “Hello, Love, Goodbye.” Now that the movie owns the Philippine box office record, we’re certain people are heading to Hong Kong to capture their “KathDen” moment. Fortunately, we compiled a list of the locations where the film was shot so they can capture their own KathDen moments in Hong Kong.
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
1. Central, Hong Kong
Several scenes take place around Central, Hong Kong. That’s because the movie gets the culture of the area right: a large number of Filipino workers gather around the area on the weekends with cardboard boxes to lay on the ground and talk amongst themselves. This is also the staging ground for Joy’s participation in the Ms. Central 2019 pageant that was eventually won by her cousin, newcomer Mary Dale.
2. Lan Kwai Fong
Scene in the film: Joy finds a new job
After negotiating the rest of her contract with her current employer, Joy finds herself strapped for cash. She takes up a side gig moonlighting as a waitress at a bar in Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong’s resident nightlife hub. It’s here where she narrowly avoids police doing random checks and where her story with Ethan begins rather unceremoniously.
3. Central Pier, Victoria Harbor
Scene in the Film: Several
This viewing deck at Victoria Harbor near the Hong Kong Observation Wheel overlooks the Kowloon side of the island and has become a recurring spot for both Joy and Ethan. It’s where they first talk as strangers and eventually where they come to terms with their relationship towards the end of the film.
4. Cheung Chau Island
Scene in the Film: Joy meets Ethan’s Family
When a public meltdown by Ethan’s brother causes Ethan to disappear, Joy finds him taking care of his father at their home near a fishing village. In the film, Joy boards a ferry that takes her to the island where Ethan’s family is staying, Cheung Chau Island. Southwest of the metropolis, it’s a quaint little village based on the waterfront where Ethan tells Joy all about his life.
5. Avenue of Stars
Scene in the Film: Ethan helps Joy sell her stuff
After realizing their feelings for each other, Ethan resolves to help Joy in her quest to finally get a Canadian visa and leave Hong Kong. One of the ways Ethan helps is by selling the products that Joy was selling on the side so that she doesn’t need to worry about it being illegal. This scene where Joy realizes that she’s almost got enough money to pay for her work permits happens at the Avenue of Stars, where Ethan gets to mimic the Hong Kong Film Award Statue.
6. Mong Kok
Scene in the Film: Ethan’s Joy
The viral post of a fan finding the rooftop situated in Mong Kok inspired this list so it deserves to be on it. A rooftop that overlooks one of Hong Kong’s busiest districts just so happened to be the place where Ethan welcomed Joy to his new resto-bar concept, “Ethan’s Joy.” The two share a romantic moment that Ethan hopes would entice Joy to stay with him in Hong Kong.
Various Locations
Scene in the Film: Joy’s 3 Days, 2 Nights Farewell Tour with Ethan
