Accio, butterbeer!
If you’re a Potterhead like us, it’s likely your imaginations ran wild upon first reading about Butterbeer in the novels. J.K. Rowling described it as a popular drink among young wizards, and it tasted deliciously sweet and comforting. As self-proclaimed wizards and witches ourselves, we wanted to taste it ourselves!
A trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios isn’t complete without a glass of butterbeer - whether it be hot, cold, or frozen! However, since we can’t make a trip to Universal Studios Japan, Universal Studios Hollywood, or Universal Studios Orlando right now, we can try to make butterbeer at home!
Keep reading to find out how to bring magic into your homes with three butterbeer recipes:
HOT BUTTERBEER RECIPE
In the Harry Potter book series, Harry described Butterbeer to have warmed him up inside. With this recipe from The Tip Toe Fairy, you can experience the same comforting effect. This makes 4 servings so you can share this with your housemates!
Hot Butterbeer Ingredients
- 2 cups milk
- ¼ cup butter

NOTE: If you don’t have cream soda, you can substitute it with root beer!
Instructions:
- Whisk together milk, butter, and brown sugar and heat in the microwave for 3 minutes. Stir and heat for another 3-4 minutes until milk is foaming.
- Remove from the microwave and mix once again until the butter is fully mixed in and the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Heat the butterscotch topping for 20 seconds then stir in 2 tablespoons into the milk mixture.
- Add 1 cup of cream soda (or root beer if you’re switching it up).
- Top with the remaining butterscotch topping. Serve and enjoy!
