However, a word of caution - these couples have crazy chemistry so prepare to fall in love!
1. Jung Joon Hyung and Kim Bok Joo from Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung)
Apart from the hilarious plot and easy-to-love set of characters, the undeniable chemistry between Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung’s characters in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo formulated for a very favorable drama among the K-Wave community.
If you have yet to watch this coming-of-age university drama, we can guarantee a lot of laughs and kilig moments that may even remind you of your first love!
2. Kim Shin and Ji Eun Tak from Goblin (Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun)
Goblin is without a doubt one of the best Korean dramas right now - and we’d like to think it’s partly due to Gong Yoo and Kim Eun-Go’s wonderful chemistry despite their large on-screen and off-screen age gap. The adorable pairing made viewers feel all kinds of emotions - uncontrollable laughter from their aegyo moments to tears upon watching their heart-wrenching scenes. Needless to say, fans are still hoping for a second season or at least another drama with these two together.
3. Wang So and Hae Soo from Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (Lee Joon Gi and IU)
If there is one historical drama we could recommend, it’s Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo! While the star-studded cast is one enticing factor, the chemistry between the 4th Crown Prince Wang So (Lee Joon Gi) and Hae Soo (IU) will undoubtedly pull your heartstrings, making you laugh, weep and of course feel all kinds of kilig. While a second season is unlikely to happen, fans may find solace in IU and Joon Gi’s close off-screen friendship - with Joon Gi playing a cameo role in IU’s drama Hotel Del Luna and the two even appearing in a Knowing Bros episode together.
4. Ah Min Hyuk and Do Bong Soon from Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young)
Who wouldn’t fall in love with the funsized Park Bo Young? Rumor has it that Park Hyung Sik actually did - and we honestly don’t blame him! The actors played opposite each other in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon - a romantic-fantasy-comedy drama released back in 2017. The drama follows Bong Soon (Park Bo Young), a young woman with superhuman strength, who ends up becoming a bodyguard for a video game CEO, played by Park Hyung Sik. In addition to the refreshing role-reversal theme, viewers are reeled in thanks to the charming relationship that develops between the leads.
5. Yoo Shi Jin and Kang Mo Yeon from Descendants of the Sun (Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo)
Descendants of The Sun became a huge international hit largely due to the chemistry between actors Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, who portrayed an iconic romance between a special forces captain and a surgeon. That said, fans were devastated to hear about the Song-Song couple’s separation in real life after their two-year marriage.
Nonetheless, the couple’s undeniable chemistry in the drama is sure to make your heart flutter, so if you’re looking for a drama filled with action and romance - this is it!
6. Kwon Jung Rok and Oh Jin Shim from Touch My Heart (Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na)
It took three lifetimes for Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na’s characters in Goblin to finally be together, so it was a treat for fans to hear that the two had been cast as leads in the drama Touch My Heart.
The 2019 rom-com drama follows Oh Jin Shim (Yoo In-Na), an actress embroiled in a scandal, who goes as far as getting a job as a lawyer’s secretary to prepare for her comeback. However things aren’t as easy as she envisioned, especially with an arrogant and cold lawyer Kwon Jung Rok (played by Lee Dong Wook) as her boss. Needless to say, this ‘opposites attract’ trope will surely warm your heart.
7. Ko Dong Man and Choi Ae Ra from Fight For My Way (Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won)
Just the sight of Park Seo Joon is enough to make our hearts race, but after being paired with Kim Ji-Won on Fight for My Way, it was hard to believe these two didn’t fall in love off-screen! If you’re looking for something light, yet full of kilig, to watch this Valentine’s weekend, this charming tale of best friends-turned-lovers is right up your alley. If you needed any more convincing, Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won bagged two Best Couple awards following the release of the drama.
8. Jang Jae Yeol and Ji Hae Soo from It’s Alright, This is Love (Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin)
Six years since its premiere, K-Drama fans are still praising It’s Alright, This Is Love for its timeless tale and the romantic storyline that’ll have any viewer hooked from the beginning. Starring veteran actors Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin, the drama followed an atypical Korean drama formula, focused on topics regarding mental health and intimacy in relationships. Apart from its refreshing plot, fans cheered on Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin for their amazing chemistry, to a point many believed they were together in real life.
9. Won-Deuk / Lee Yool and Hong Sim / Yoon Yi Seo from 100 Days My Prince (Do Kyung Soo and Nam Ji Hyun)
Do Kyung Soo’s acting chops are no stranger to drama fans and EXO-L’s alike, but his portrayal as the proud Crown Prince in 100 Days My Prince posed a real treat for fans! While his character’s stoic appearance is classic D.O., fans were delighted to see him step into a romantic role opposite the bright and bubbly Nam Ji Hyun in this history drama that follows a forced marriage between the two. The chemistry between the two actors was through the roof, we’re sure you’ll be smiling from ear to ear!
10. Lee Young Joon and Kim Mi So from What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young)
We can’t remember a time wherein Park Seo Joon didn’t manage to make our hearts flutter, so his portrayal of a cold Vice-President in What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim opposite the talented Park Min Young - the pairing of the century - naturally had us binge watching. In the drama, PSJ’s character realizes his feelings for his long-time secretary, played by Park Min Young, a little too late - only after she notifies him of her resignation.
11. Lee Suho and Im Jugyeong from True Beauty (Cha Eun Woo and Moon Ga Young)
The webtoon-turned-drama was a recent hit among the Korean drama community, and it isn’t hard to see why! Apart from the easy-going high school plot we all love, up and coming actors, Cha Eun Woo and Moon Ga Young, displayed a natural chemistry between one another that made it difficult for us to peel our eyes off our screen.
True Beauty follows the coming of age story of Lim Ju-Kyung (Moon Ga Young), who uses her talent in makeup artistry to transform herself and step away from a discriminated past. On her journey to reinvent herself, she meets Lee Su-ho (Cha Eun-Woo), who recognizes her beyond her appearance.
12. Do Hyun Soo/Baek Hee Sung and Cha Ji Won from Flower of Evil (Lee Joon Gi and Moon Chae Won)
Just from the first scene of Episode 1, viewers knew they were in for a roller coaster ride with this drama. Lee Joon Gi and Moon Chae Won portrayed a married couple in love in Flower of Evil, but the real plot comes after Moon Chae Won’s character finds out about her husband’s dark past.
