Saranghae, South Korea!
The wait is finally over! South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior and Safety has just announced that its borders are soon to open for leisure travel! Beginning April 1, 2022, travellers from all countries will be will be allowed to enter the country provided they have a valid visa and have completed their COVID-19 vaccination and booster shots.
Quarantine Exemptions
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has also announced that exemptions for overseas vaccinations will be extended for those who are vaccinated outside of Korea. Tourists who have received their complete vaccine doses in their respective countries within 180 days will be allowed to enter its borders. This does not include vaccinated visitors from Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and Myanmar, and will be asked to quarantine for seven days upon arrival.
Q-CODE Guidance and Requirements
Vaccinated tourists are also required to declare their vaccination history and enter their records in the Quarantine COVID-19 Defence or Q-CODE system. This portal is a mandatory step for all tourists and is a pre-entry requirement. Quarantine and vaccination information will be asked from each traveler and is a necessity before booking plane tickets. Each traveler will be assigned a QR Code and shall present this code before boarding their flight to South Korea.
