Many thanks to our driver Dean, for giving us such a wonderful experience in Daejeon and Suwon! He was extremely punctual, and we traveled in a Hyundai Staria, which was super comfortable. We absolutely loved Jangtaesan — the autumn scenery made the mountain look like a painting. Afterward, we visited a local market for lunch and shopping, where the prices were definitely more affordable than those in Seoul. In Suwon, we were thrilled to visit The Lovely Runner drama location (Sun Jae and Im Sol’s house 🫶🏻). This day trip is perfect for anyone looking to escape Seoul for a while. Highly recommended!

If you're looking for a unique day trip from Seoul, visiting Starfield Library Suwon, Hwaseong Fortress, and Gwangmyeong Cave is an unforgettable experience. Start your journey at Starfield Library Suwon, a modern masterpiece with its towering bookshelves and vibrant design. It's a paradise for book lovers and a great spot for stunning photos. Next, explore the historic Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into Korea's rich history. The walk along the fortress walls is serene and picturesque, especially in the late afternoon. End your adventure at Gwangmyeong Cave, a fascinating underground attraction featuring art installations, a wine cave, and captivating light displays. The transformation from an abandoned mine to a cultural hotspot is truly inspiring. This itinerary combines modern architecture, cultural heritage, and artistic exploration, making it perfect for travelers who want variety and adventure in one day!

Our pick-up and drop-off points were at our hotel, which was a huge plus point for selecting this tour. Cory, who was our guide and driver, picked us up punctually in a huge MPV which seated my group of 7 comfortably. The heavy snowfall during our day tour didn't dampen our spirits. In fact, it made the sights more beautiful. At Hwaseong, we took many stunning photos of the majestic fortress with the white backdrop. The Suwon starfield library wasn't as massive but it waa a sight to behold. Have never taken so many photos of a library before. Due to the snow, the Gwangmeyong Cave was closed but Cory replaced the attraction with a visit (free upgrade) to Yong-in Folk Village. Beautiful pictures of the traditional houses and trees decorated with light were taken. Cory has superb driving skills; the roads were slippery with layer of ice on the surface but he skillfully and safely navigated the car without incident although we spent a fair bit of time on the road due to reduced speeds and heavy traffic. Visiting Hwaseong fortress in summer is still on my bucket list and I will definitely join Cory's tour when I am back in S. Korea.
