The kids had so much fun at the National Deer Park. We didn't try the deer feeding experience because the deer weren't as docile as we thought. But they had fun just taking pictures with them and watching them. Kiyomizu-dera doesn't have the quiet and peaceful feel of the old days. There are too many people. Still, it's worth a visit at least once.

Thank you Cicy and Steven for your professional and humorous tour guide. It is a pity that my English listening is not very good. I feel that the English introduction is more detailed ~ I hope I can meet Steven and Cicy next time I go to Japan, great!

There is no private changing space, but each service staff's service is super fast, super perfect😍, and also full of emotional value. Warm packs will be given to you even if the weather is cold. Don’t be afraid to ask for a warm pack, otherwise you will freeze to death.

Although the itinerary is tight, being able to visit so many attractions in one day is well worth the price. Our tour guides Charles and Steven are proficient in Chinese/English/Japanese, so you don’t have to worry about language barriers. If you want to relax and have fun Kyoto, this is a great day trip option.

Step into a profound chapter of history at Mimizuka, the 'Ear Mound,' where the echoes of the past resonate deeply. This 30-foot-high hillock stands as a solemn testament to the brutalities of war, marking the resting place of the severed noses and ears of Korean and Chinese soldiers and civilians from the late 16th century. As you explore this poignant memorial, you'll gain insight into the complex historical ties between Japan and Korea, making it an essential stop for history enthusiasts.

Toyokuni Shrine

Discover the legacy of one of Japan's most influential military leaders at the Toyokuni Shrine. Nestled just west of Mimizuka, this Shinto shrine is dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the mastermind behind the invasions commemorated by the nearby Ear Mound. As you wander through the shrine, you'll uncover the stories of Hideyoshi's ambitions and the historical events that shaped the region, offering a deeper understanding of Japan's rich cultural tapestry.

Hōkōji Temple

Immerse yourself in the grandeur of Hōkōji Temple, a symbol of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's power and vision. Located near Mimizuka, this temple once housed the largest Buddha statue of its time, reflecting the era's architectural and spiritual aspirations. As you explore the temple grounds, you'll be transported back to a pivotal period in Japanese history, where political shifts and cultural achievements intertwined to leave a lasting legacy.

Cultural and Historical Significance

Mimizuka in Kyoto is a profound cultural landmark that takes you back to the late 16th century, a time marked by the Japanese invasions of Korea. This site is not just a memorial but a testament to the practices of that era, where severed noses were collected as proof of military success. It stands as a symbol of the hostilities and tensions between Japan and Korea, urging visitors to reflect on the importance of reconciliation and understanding. The monument also highlights the political dynamics of the Edo period and the evolving perceptions of Hideyoshi's legacy, making it a focal point for discussions on international reconciliation and historical memory.

Effect on Modern Relations

Mimizuka serves as a poignant reminder of the complex history between Japan and Korea, offering a space for reflection on modern foreign relations. While it remains a lesser-known site in Japan, it holds significant importance for Korean visitors, emphasizing the need for acknowledging past atrocities to foster better understanding and prevent future conflicts.
