Rejoice Durian fans because Durian season is here and it’s time to fully indulge in the King of fruits! While we’re finally in Phase 2 and can enjoy Durians together with friends at our favourite stalls, there are some who would still prefer to hold Durian parties online!
With certain stalls now offering delivery services, have your favourite type of Durians delivered to your doorstep, hop online, and enjoy your spoils together with your friends!
Which type of Durian to pick?
“I like eating Durian, but I don’t know which type to select?” Durian preferences are usually specific to the person and with deliveries, it can get quite intimidating if you don’t already know what you want.
If you’ve previously been relying on your friends picking the Durians or on the recommendations of stall owners, we’ve got a handy list of Durians and their tasting notes for you to get a sense of what to choose from!
- D13 - Recommended for beginners, this Durian has a mildly sweet taste and comes with a firm texture
- D24 - This is one of the more popular and commonly known varieties of Durian. It comes with a slightly bitter taste and creamy texture
- Golden Phoenix - Recognisable from its pale, watery yellow flesh, the Golden Phoenix is probably one of the most ‘value for money’ types of durian. With its strong and bitter taste, this one’s for those who are more accustomed to eating durian
- Red Prawn - The Red Prawn is perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. It has a smooth creamy texture and leaves a delightful sweet aftertaste in your mouth
- XO - As its name suggests, the XO got its name from the strong and bitter taste of its flesh, similar to that of the alcohol. It is soft and fleshy, so expect mouthfuls of Durian goodness with each bite
- Mao Shan Wang - The cream of the crop, the Mao Shan Wang has been used in common Durian delicacies like ice cream, pastries and desserts, making it one of the most distinguishable flavours. It has a creamy texture and a bittersweet taste.
- Black Pearl - Having a slightly bitter taste with a creamy and smooth texture, the best part of the Black Pearl is that it has small seeds. That means more delicious flesh for us!
