After A Long Wait, It's Finally Here
After many opening delays, the highly-anticipated Genting Skyworlds theme park finally opened its doors to the public in February 2022. Ever since its announcement, Genting Skyworlds has gotten much attention from within Malaysia and over here in Singapore too, with most of us having fond memories of holidays as kids at the old Genting theme park.
About The Long-Awaited Genting Skyworlds Theme Park
The sparkly, brand-new Genting Skyworlds is home to 9 uniquely themed worlds spread across 26 acres of land. Explore a wide variety of international class movie-themed rides and attractions suitable for people of all ages, from your little ones to teenagers, adults, and the young at heart.
We had the opportunity to explore the theme park in a preview opening a few months back and genuinely loved every single minute spent there. If you're wondering what to expect at Genting Skyworlds or contemplating whether to plan a visit, here's our honest review of the place based on our personal experience. Keep reading to find out more!
[Review] Our Favourite Rides & Attractions At Genting Skyworlds
Genting Skyworlds is divided into several sections (also known as 'worlds'), each of which gives off its very own unique vibe and houses a balanced selection of rides, attractions, as well as dining and retail establishments.
Wondering which are our favourite spots in the theme park? We'll be reviewing one world at a time so it'll be easier for you to locate them when you head over!
[💡Life-Saving Klook Tip💡] Download the Genting Skyworlds app before your visit - trust us when we say you won't regret this! Once you do this, you can link your ticket and enjoy complimentary ride reservations for specific timeslots (we'd recommend reserving them in one go as early as you can as slots are limited) - this life-saving feature is going to save you lots of time getting stuck in long queues, you can literally skip the queue by heading to the VQ reservation lane at each ride. You can also view the wait times of each ride on the app to plan your route efficiently! 🎢
1. Central Park
The Central Park is Genting Skyworlds' buzzing town square and the first area that will welcome you the moment you step in. The centrepiece of this world is the grand Lake of Dreams where you can catch fountain shows scheduled throughout the day, but besides that, it's also home to the Night at the Museum Natural History Museum as well as one of our favourite rides in the park - Independence Day: Defiance.
Please don't leave Genting Skyworlds without hopping on this 4D ride (where you'll get to be a recruit and fight aliens on an exhilarating space mission!) - we experienced it twice because we simply couldn't help it, it was just so much fun! 💯
2. Andromeda Base
Andromeda Base is a world designed for thrill-seekers. Put your heart and strength to the test by challenging yourself to the adrenaline-pumping rides here: Alpha Fighter Pilots is a space battle simulation that will bring you on 360-degree spins (some of us felt like we were in a washing machine as we got spun round and round 🙃) while the Terraform Tower Challenge might remind you of Space Shot, one of the nostalgic rides at the old Genting theme park! Hang on tight and try not to regret your decision before taking off. *winks*
3. Rio
Filled with colourful buildings and cheery samba music, Rio gives off lively vibes of a summer party and is easily one of our favourite worlds in Genting Skyworlds. Besides its bustling neighbourhood square where every building looks perfect as an OOTD backdrop, you'll also find three fun rides here.
We managed to get on all of them - the beautiful double-decker Blue Sky Carousel, the Rio Carnaval Chaos (a colourful teacup ride - except instead of boring teacups, you'll get to spin around in characters from Rio!), and one of our favourite rides at Skyworlds - Samba Gliders (enjoy a bird's eye view of Skyworlds while being suspended with your feet dangling 65-feet above ground!). All three rides are absolutely kid and family-friendly, as well as great fun for the young at heart.
4. Epic
Just like Rio, here's another world in Genting Skyworlds that filled us with giddy, childlike joy. Epic is a secret kingdom that has an absolutely magical charm and comes complete with props and decor such as oversized plants and huge birds which will make you feel pint-sized, just like the characters in the movie.
We also tried both the rides here! For those who have been to the old Genting theme park, you'll likely remember the Flying Jumbo ride - Epic Hummingbird Flyers seems like an elevated version of that but with an added surprise: you'll have to dodge squirting water jets as you go round and round on your flying hummingbird! We ended up just a little bit soaked, thanks to our great flying (and dodging) skills.
We also enjoyed the Epic Voyage To Moonhaven, a whimsical indoor boat ride with some splashes here and there (Klook Tip: avoid the seat on the right if you don't want to get wet 😉).
5. Ice Age
If you're a fan of the Ice Age movies, you'll love this part of Genting Skyworlds. The Ice Age world in Genting Skyworlds is filled with attractions inspired by the globally recognized franchise, including a pirate ship and a rollercoaster ride that climbs as high as 65-feet before making a splash! We also caught a glimpse of a performance theatre where you can catch live shows featuring Ice Age characters.
6. Robots Rivet Town
Did you watch the Robots movie when you were younger? Robots Rivet Town is a world dedicated to the vibrant Robot City. Let your imagination soar free as you hop on the two adventurous yet family-friendly rides in the area - Bigweld's Zeppelins will allow you to fly high and catch panoramic views of Robots Rivet Town, while the Rivet Town Roller is a capsule coaster that will bring you on a topsy-turvy journey.
Rides aside, we really loved the vibes this world gave off (although it was a bit smaller than the other worlds) - the colourful buildings look just like the ones in the movie we watched when we were kids, and served as a great backdrop for photos.
7. Eagle Mountain
Eagle Mountain houses one of Genting Skyworld's most thrilling rides - the Mad Ramp Peak. Get your adrenaline pumping by hopping on the world's first dual-powered roller coaster bike ride which will take you from zero to sixty as you whizz through speedy straights and challenging chicanes.
The ride was unfortunately not ready when we visited, but we can't wait to experience it the next time we have the chance. In case you start feeling hungry after a thrilling race, there's a burger stall where you can fuel up on a classic chicken or beef burger before heading to your next world. We had the truffle aioli chicken burger which tasted really good!
8. Liberty Lane
Inspired by the streets of San Francisco, Liberty Lane is lined with unique stores, dining establishments, as well as an exhilarating attraction from Planet of the Apes - a first-in-the-world, designed exclusively for the theme park.
We didn't manage to try it out as it wasn't open yet, but we heard that it's a pulse-pounding 3D indoor ride that's great for those who love an adrenaline rush. We really enjoyed walking through the quaint streets of the picture-perfect Liberty Lane.
Other Facilities at Genting Skyworlds
Besides its many attractions, there are also ample food kiosks, restaurants, retail outlets (where you can shop for limited edition merchandise and souvenirs), and more scattered over the theme park.
The park also has live entertainment scheduled throughout the day, so there'll just be absolutely no time to feel bored. For those travelling with children or senior citizens - fret not as there are strollers, wheelchairs, and lockers available for rental on-site.
Ticket Prices & Opening Hours
How much are the tickets to enter Genting Skyworlds? The theme park tickets are divided into two categories, and toddlers under 90cm get to enter for free!

Our Review Verdict: Is It Worth It?
As theme park lovers deprived of adventures and travels for two years, Genting Skyworlds was a huge breath of fresh air for us. We had lots of fun just strolling through the space and marvelling at everything we saw, and it was really easy for us to imagine it being filled with laughter and excited patrons once it opens to the public.
The chilly weather up at Genting also added lots of points to the experience, it definitely won't feel the same if we had to walk around in the heat. Still contemplating whether it's worth a visit? How 'bout heading over yourself to find out?
