How to Buy Tickets to Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo
We’re not going to sugarcoat it: tickets to the studio tour sell out fast, especially during public and school holidays. The studio tour’s opening hours vary throughout the year; check your desired date’s availability via the official calendar on the website.
Next, score your very own Hogwarts invite through Klook. Note that you won’t be able to buy tickets at the door, so planning ahead is crucial for this attraction.
Bonus: choose from different ticket packages on Klook — there’s even the option to add on a 24-hour Tokyo Subway ticket, or a 1-Day Seibu Pass. There are timings throughout the day, but we recommend choosing an earlier timeslot to fully maximise your experience.
Be prepared to spend at least four hours here. In fact, we spent 5.5 hours, which gave us more than enough time to see and do everything at a leisurely pace.
#KlookTip: We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, as you’ll be doing a lot of walking.
Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo - The Making of Harry Potter Premium Ticket including guided tour and lecture by Pierre Bohanna
For the die-hard fans, you might want to consider getting this premium ticket, which includes a guided tour and lecture by Pierre Bohanna, a prop designer for Warner Bros. His designs have been featured in films like Titanic, The Dark Knight and of course, the Harry Potter series!
You will join a captivating 2-hour guided tour in English/Chinese of the first half of the entire Warner Bros Studio Tour Tokyo, where you'll unravel the enchanting secrets behind the iconic sets, props, and costumes of the Harry Potter film series.
How to Get to Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo
The Harry Potter Studio Tour is just a short walk from Toshimaen station.
You can either:
a) take the Seibu line from Ikebukuro, or
b) take the Oedo line from Shinjuku
The former will around 15 minutes, and the latter will take around 25 minutes. If you’re coming from Ikebukuro, this is where the ticket bundle including the 1-Day Seibu Pass will come in handy.
The stations are decorated to be on theme as well. Keep a lookout for this Ministry of Magic phone booth once you exit the station for a cute photo op.
We also recommend arriving earlier to check out the garden outside the Studio Tour building. These are just some of our favourite sculptures!
What to See and Do at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo
Each studio tour starts with a short film shown in a plush theatre — this film contains nostalgic movie snippets, short quotes from the actors, and more. You’ll then be shown into the Great Hall; here, a guide will give an introduction to the props on display. However, this tour will be conducted in Japanese, so feel free to wander off to the next section once you’re ready.
#KlookTip: Don’t be late! The tour starts on time, and there are no refunds for late arrivals or no-shows. Take your time to explore:
Intricate movie sets
The Great Hall
Experience all the feels when you walk into the Great Hall, flanked by the long house tables on each side. Take a look at the various house uniforms, as well as the mannequins of Dumbledore and the respective professors.
Hogwarts common rooms
Did you know that both the Gryffindor and Slytherin common rooms were deliberately designed to reflect the character of the two houses? The Gryffindor common room exudes a comforting and secure vibe — something that also directly contrasts Harry’s living conditions with the Dursleys. The Slytherin common room, on the other hand, was designed to reflect a stark and chilly appearance. Cool, huh!
Hogwarts classrooms
Check out the Potions classroom, complete with nifty photo ops. The Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom regularly hosts a show of sorts, where the audience will be urged to cast spells in order to defeat a visiting Death Eater.
Ministry of Magic
Exclusive to Tokyo, the Ministry of Magic set is massive! Wander in and out of the Floo Network chimneys, gaze at the formidable ‘Magic is Might’ statue, and more.
Forbidden Forest
If you’re visiting with kids, this section might be a tad spooky. Otherwise, it’s a really cool addition to the studio tour! Wander amongst and under giant trees and their branches — plus spot the life-like animatronic Buckbeak and Aragog.
Psst, don’t miss out on the chance to cast your very own Patronus too. Expecto Patronum!
Diagon Alley
Just look at that level of detail! Be mindblown by the various shops lining Diagon Alley, such as Eeylops Owl Emporium, Ollivander’s Wand Shop, as well as Flourish & Botts.
The most impressive of all is Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, hands down.
Platform 9¾
Snap a picture with the Hogwarts Express, and even venture into the train itself. Or, how about having a great photo op of yourself pushing a trolley into the wall? Don’t forget to check out the Great Wizarding Express set from the Fantastic Beasts series as well, which is exclusive to the Tokyo Studio Tour.
Dumbledore’s Office
Is it just us, or is Dumbledore’s office a lot more intricate than what we remember?!
Elaborate costumes
Let’s admit it: the amount of work that went into the Harry Potter movies is astounding.
P/S: You’ll even be able to get a close-up look at the Dementors’ masks.
Amazing props
From the Mirror of Erised and Triwizard trophy to the Quidditch equipment, everything — and we do mean, everything — is on display for your viewing pleasure. There’s even Dumbledore’s memory cabinet, complete with almost 900 individually labelled memory vials.
Backlot
Halfway through the tour, you’ll come to an open space called the Backlot, where plenty of outdoor photo ops lie in store!
Go into the Dursley’s house at 4 Privet Drive, and be greeted by scenes like when Aunt Marge got blown up. You’ll get to see Harry’s quarters under the stairs too.
Go wild with the Knight bus, Hogwarts Bridge, and Wizard’s Chessboard.
#KlookTip: If you’re visiting during the autumn or winter seasons, do keep the early sunset timings in mind. This area is best visited during the day to best appreciate the sets.
However, if you can’t make it, don’t worry — the Backlot will still be illuminated once the sun sets.
Get your cameras ready: Hagrid’s hut, motorcycle, Ron’s flying car, and more await.
Interactive fun
Now, this was our absolute favourite part of the tour — all these experiences below are entirely free of charge!
Cheer on your favourite team at Quidditch
Are you team Gryffindor or team Slytherin? Be part of the iconic Quidditch match (the one where Harry swallows the Snitch!), and go all out cheering, booing, ducking the bludgers, and so much more! Exclusive to Tokyo, each session will be guided by an enthusiastic crew member, who will guide your actions and facial expressions.
You can even scan a QR code to download the video for free. It’s real good fun!
#KlookTip: You’ll only be able to download a truncated version of the video. To save the full video for memory’s sake, use your phone to record the video playback on the TV screen at the end of the experience.
Take to the skies on a broomstick
This was so much fun! Hop onto a stationary broomstick, and fly through the streets of London, above the Hogwarts Castle and more with the help of CGI. We won’t spoil it, but the resulting video is amazing!
The experience is free of charge, but you’ll have to pay 5,000 yen (~S$45) for a video and two photos. Trust us, they’re worth every penny.
This is also the most popular experience in the Studio Tour. Be prepared to join a snaking queue; however, the queue is really orderly and moves quickly too. #OnlyInJapan
Strike a pose for your very own Wanted poster
To break up the long queue for the broomstick experience, you’ll be able to pose for your own Undesirable No. 1 poster about halfway through the wait. This poster will be included in the photo and video package.
Travel by the Floo Network
Watch yourself appear out of thin air when you travel by the Floo Network. This video is free to download too!
Become one of Hogwarts’ moving portraits
Exclusive to Tokyo as well, the moving staircase is truly a sight to behold. Plus, why not break out some moves and become one of the moving portraits as well?
Behind the scenes look
The exhibits are really educational too, if we are being honest. For example, go behind the scenes and learn how the various creatures were created — right down to the teeny tiny details.
We even spotted a life-size Dobby, and the Basilisk!
Seriously, everywhere we looked was brimming with detail. 10/10 recommend, truly.
Where to Eat at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo
The Food Hall
Modelled after the Great Hall, the Food Hall is a great place to refuel either before or after the Studio Tour. We recommend the hearty Platform 9¾ breakfast.
Chocolate Frog Café
Do you have a sweet tooth? If your answer is a resounding ‘yes’, make a beeline for the Chocolate Frog Café (beside the Food Hall). Dig into sweet treats like the Philosopher’s Stone tiramisu, Hagrid’s birthday cake, or a chocolate mousse in the shape of an adorable Niffler.
Backlot Café + Butterbeer Bar
The Backlot Café is located midway through the tour, perfect for a half-time break. Grab a plate that syncs with whichever house you’ve been sorted into, topped off with the cutest Hedwig’s cake.
Feeling fancy? Treat yourself to a weekday afternoon tea inspired by Professor Umbridge, and wash it all down with a butterbeer from the Butterbeer Bar.
#KlookTip: The butterbeer cup is yours to keep. Wash it down at the onsite sinks, and bring it back home as a great souvenir!
What to Buy at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo
The studio tour is also home to the world’s largest Harry Potter shop, filled to the brim with any kind of Harry Potter merchandise that you can imagine. For extra pizazz, there’s even a customisation option for certain items.
Every corner of the shop is also decorated according to theme — just look at the aesthetics of the cashier counters?!
#KlookTip: You’ll be able to enter the building up to one hour before your allocated Studio Tour time. Why not use this time to grab a robe and wand to look the part for the Studio Tour?
The Platform 9¾ part of the tour is also home to the Railway shop, where you can indulge in some retail therapy. Just take all of our money already!
Additional #KlookTips
Audio guides rental
For those who want to learn more about the magical world of Harry Potter, there are audio guides available for rent at the entrance. These are available in both Japanese and English.

If you’re arriving with thick coats in winter, feel free to store them in the cloakroom! Coats, bags, and suitcases can be left there completely free of charge. However, due to food safety purposes, you won’t be able to leave any food or beverages.
Wi-fi
And yes, there’s complimentary Wi-Fi available throughout the compound!
