New Zealand has scrapped all COVID-19 travel restrictions, but here are the things you still need to note!
Are you ready for New Zealand? Because New Zealand’s ready for you! It’s one of the best places to go camping, hiking, fishing, and soak in the best mother nature has for us.
While its border reopened on 2 May 2022, New Zealand finally announced that starting 13 September, they will be removing all COVID-19 travel restrictions. This means that travellers to New Zealand will no longer be required to be vaccinated or have to undergo on-arrival COVID-19 testing.
At the same time, masks will no longer be required while you're travelling in New Zealand or even on board the flight there and back to Singapore.
However, there are still a couple of important things to note before you jet off to New Zealand. We have put together a quick guide to prepare for your visit!
New Zealand Entry Requirements
New Zealand will accept all travellers regardless of vaccination status starting 13 September. All you have to do is to complete the following applications before you fly:
- Complete New Zealand Traveller Declaration to obtain a Traveller Pass.
- Those travelling under the visa-waiver scheme must apply for the New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority before travel. The NZeTA will cost NZ$17 on the app or NZ$23 if completed online.
#KlookTip: Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation and travel requirements, you can look for the latest New Zealand travel requirements here.
Travel Insurance
While not mandated, it is highly recommended that you purchase travel insurance that covers COVID-19 related medical/treatment expenses and hospitalisation costs. You can get the MSIG Travel Insurance on Klook that comes with a COVID-19 add on coverage of up to S$200,000 for overseas hospitalisation and medical costs.
On-Arrival Tests
While travellers will no longer be required to go undergo mandatory Antigen Rapid Test (ART) upon arrival in New Zealand, the authorities will continue to provide you with a pair of ART kits free of charge. You are encouraged to take the self-administered ARTs on:
- Day 0/1 upon arrival
- Day 5/6
#KlookTip: The ART is commonly known as Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) in New Zealand.
Returning to Singapore
1. Complete SG Arrival Card
All travellers will also be required to complete the SG Arrival Card up to 72 hours before departure for Singapore. No testing is required under the Vaccinated Travel Framework.
