Nostalgic activities in Singapore
#throwback to days of Primary School field trips to the Science Centre or Sunday farm visits with the family. I don’t know about you but we definitely miss those good ol’ carefree days. Take a fond trip down memory lane and head to these spots in Singapore which you may have last visited decades ago.
1. The Dragon Playground
When was the last time you visited a playground? The Dragon Playground is one of Singapore’s most nostalgic playgrounds and currently there is only 1 of such sand-based Dragon Playgrounds left in Singapore. You’ll find this at Blk 28 Toa Payoh Lorong 6.
Take your little ones to this old-school playground and let them climb through the steel rails of the body and get to the head which is a slide you can descend down. The best part is that this is FREE!
Explore More to Toa Payoh with a walking tour! Singapore’s satellite town, this walking tour will help you realize that the estate is a hidden gem. There’s plenty of dragons, royalty, ritual murders and an even more notorious past to be discovered.
2. Science Centre Singapore
If your favourite school memory was climbing onto a school bus and heading on a field trip, you’ll definitely remember this place. One of the very first school field trips all of us would take is one to the Science Centre Singapore.
Catch a movie in the OmniTheatre, an 8K digital full dome cinema before heading to Butterflies Up-Close where you can get up close and personal with the beautiful winged creatures.
Inside the Science Centre is where you’ll find Professor Crackitt’s light and mirror laboratory. This mirror maze is great for photos and trust us, you WILL get lost in it.
3. Wild Wild Wet
Plenty of us have fond memories staying over at the Pasir Ris chalets with our friends. This often also included a visit to Escape Theme Park (now closed) or Wild Wild Wet! The newly revamped waterpark now has a whole bunch of new attractions that you won’t want to miss out on.
Our favourite is the Torpedo - a waterslide that will leave you free-falling once the trap door opens!
4. Pulau Ubin
If you were part of a uniformed group CCA, a trip to Pulau Ubin for Outward Bound Singapore or just to camp would have definitely been a part of your childhood memories.
Go on a Kayaking adventure around the mangroves and escape from the bustle of the city with an Ubin Kayaking Tour. If you’re not one for watersports, a biking tour around the island is equally relaxing!
Better yet, conquer BOTH in a day on a Pulau Ubin, Cycling & Chek Jawa Wetlands Tour and this comes inclusive of lunch!
5. Hay Dairies Goat Farm
A walk down memory lane is not complete without a visit to Singapore’s one and only goat farm – Hay Dairies Farm. Reach bright at early if you’d like to catch them milking the goats (9am to 1030pm). Otherwise, you can purchase a bag of hay from the counter and head to the stables to feed and pat these playful kids.
Don’t forget to try out the goat milk before you go! It comes in both Original and Chocolate flavor.
Klook Fun Fact : Goat’s milk is easier to digest than cow’s milk and is great for people who are lactose intolerant!
Make your farm visit a half day adventure by combining it with a visit to 2 other farms - Bollywood Veggies and Kok Fah Technology Farm. Learn about the growing urban farm community and enjoy some fresh local produce.
6. Snow City
Snow City has plenty of new things to do and it’s definitely more than what you can remember from your childhood. The new Winter Shooting Arena lets you play a game of laser tag in the cold with your squad. There’s also a slope when you can slide down on a tube, which sounds to us like the best way to beat the heat.
7. Hi-Roller Indoor Skating
The real throwback is to the Disco Era! Put on your roller skates and get ready for fun (and to break a sweat) at Hi-Roller Indoor Skating. One of our fondest memories of growing up was being unafraid to try out new sports - skating included!
Don’t worry if you’re a beginner, all helmets, guards and skates are included!
