    Pre-boarding checklist

Prior to your cruise, you will receive notifications and emails from Royal Caribbean about the boarding procedures. To successfully do an online check in, you need to:
    1. Complete and update a list of travel information
    2. Book a timeslot for your wellness check (this is essentially just in-person verification of your travel documents before you are allowed to go through to immigration)
    3. Upload your vaccination records
    4. Answer health questions on the day before your cruise departure date
We recommend downloading the Royal Caribbean app which makes everything much more convenient. You can view your check in status, deck plans, activity calendar and other cruise-related activities and bookings all at the tap of a button!
The app will also allow you to view your SetSail Pass and make reservations for your activities and meals at the various dining establishments with ease.

    Things to bring for check-in:
    1. Your passport with 6 months validity
    2. Printed or an electronic copy of your cruise ticket

Preboarding at Marina Bay Cruise Centre

    marina bay cruise centre
Check-in for Royal Caribbean is at Marina Bay Cruise Centre, and the process is pretty straightforward. Arrive at the time for your wellness check and a staff will guide you through all the things you need to do.
You will then be ushered into immigration, and once passing that you get to go into the ship!

    Getting Onboard

#KlookTip: Once you get onboard, make your bookings for all the popular activities as quickly as possible so that you are able to reserve your slot. Activities that get booked quickly include the FlowRider, Skypad, North Star and RipCord by iFLY. Do also make reservations for the night entertainment live shows and performances that are a cannot-miss!

    Silver Junior Suite

    silver junior suite
For this Shakedown Cruise, we stayed in a Silver Junior Suite, which encompasses Sea Class benefits. For the suites and lofts, Spectrum of the Seas offers three different classes of Royal Class suite amenities which are Star, Sky and Sea Class, with Star Class being the most premium of them all.
For Sea Class, we got access to the Silver Dining Restaurant, a restaurant with exclusive access for Silver tiered guests. Other benefits include luxury bath amenities and a Lavazza Coffee Machine in our room. You can view the different benefits for the various Royal suite classes here.
All suites include Balcony Stateroom inclusions plus:
    • Larger sitting area with sofa bed (some exclusions)
    • Luxury bathroom amenities
    • Bathtub (some exclusions)
    • Special in-suite dining (excluding Junior Suite)
    • Priority check-in and departure (excluding Junior Suite)
    • Complimentary concierge service (excluding Junior Suite)
    • Royal Suite Class amenities
Besides our Junior Suite, other suites offered include the Ultimate Family Suite, Grand Loft Suite, Owner’s Suite and Grand Suite each with their own special layout for different needs and wants.

The main event though, has definitely got to be the Ultimate Family Suite. This outrageous room has a slide within the room itself as well as a movie area complete with popcorn-making machine and even a palatial bathroom complete with total ocean view, a bath tub underneath a skylight, and a lounging deck all to yourself.
Suites aside, there are plenty of other cabin options for your consideration that come with balconies or without. Other Rooms and Cabins you might want to check out before booking:

Interior Stateroom and Ocean View Stateroom

Spectrum of the Seas Interior Stateroom
For those who don’t think an ocean view is a must and won’t be spending a lot of time in their rooms and will be out roaming the ship most of the time, the Interior Stateroom suffices with a cool virtual ocean view display. It comes with the following amenities:
    • Sitting area
    • Two twin beds or One Royal King bed
    • TV, Telephone and safe
    • Private bathroom with shower and hairdryer
    • Daily housekeeping and turndown service
    • Room Service
Spectrum of the seas ocean view
The Ocean View Stateroom has the same amenities as the Interior Stateroom, except that it comes with a window view to the ocean instead of a virtual ocean view.

    Ocean View Balcony

spectrum of the seas ocean view balcony

The Ocean View Balcony rooms give you the luxury of having your own private balcony that comes with a mini coffee table and two deck chairs for lounging at any time you wish. The room includes:
    • Private balcony
    • Larger sitting area with sofa bed
    • Two twin beds or One Royal King bed
    • TV, Telephone and safe
    • Private bathroom with shower, vanity area and hairdryer
    • Daily housekeeping and turndown service
    • Room service

#Klooktip: If you’re feeling too lazy to go down for breakfast, order room service and enjoy breakfast with a view!

Things to do on Spectrum of the Seas

To put it simply, you will never get bored onboard. Whether you’re travelling with kids in tow, a group of buddies or with your significant other - there’s something fun for everyone!
spectrum of the seas seapass card
#KlookTip: Before you run off and try everything, do remember to always have your SeaPass Card with you at all times. We definitely recommend bringing along a card slot attached to a lanyard if you have one so that you don’t have to constantly fish it out of your wallet.
You will be required to scan your card for every activity (be it dining or entertainment)!

    Top Action and Adventure Highlights:

    1. FlowRider Surf Simulator

    spectrum of the seas flowrider
    spectrum of the seas flowrider
Will you be carving like a pro or getting wiped out? (We obviously belong to the latter) But either way, splashing into the The FlowRider Surf Simulator promises a thrill like no other!

Grab your board and try to kneel on your board and stay upright or maneuver left and right without getting swept away by the rushing waves. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip and highly recommended by the entire team!

For ladies, it is recommended to have a tshirt on

    2. RipCord by iFLY Skydiving Simulator

spectrum of the seas ripcord ifly
I was the lucky tribute who got to try out the RipCord by iFLY Skydiving Simulator, which allows you to experience free fall without needing to jump off a plane. Before rushing head first into the wind tunnel though, you first need to sit through a safety video and briefing by your flight instructor before getting suited up and heading out.
spectrum of the seas ripcord ifly
You will be fitted with earplugs, goggles and a helmet as well as a skydiving suit and then get to have your one minute of fame in the wind tunnel! It’s a pretty exhilarating feeling and I definitely recommend giving it a shot. Don’t be afraid because your instructor will be with you the whole time, giving you tips and guiding you through!

Attire requirements: Socks and shoes are a must
Ladies, do remember to bring along a hair tie too

    3. SkyPad

    4. Rock-Climbing Wall

    Kid-friendly Must-Dos:

    5. SeaPlex Indoor Sports Complex

spectrum of the seas bumper cars
The SeaPlex is Royal Caribbean’s multi-purpose sports hall of sorts, where you can enjoy a slew of indoor activities from table tennis to basketball and another favourite of ours, Bumper Cars
You get 4 minutes per session on the bumper cars, so don’t waste time swerving and avoiding clashing straight on into a stranger - just go for it! In fact, I think we probably had too much fun on this.
    spectrum of the seas seaplex
Other things we tried included archery (the arrows come foam-tipped so they are safe even for kids to try) as well as table tennis. You can get your bats and balls at the counter on the first level of SeaPlex.
spectrum of the seas sasu mystical quest
There’s also a booth where you can try Sasu’s Mystical Quest - a sort of arcade game where you have to guide the main character, Sasu, through his underwater adventures to collect coins by veering left and right and jumping up and down to avoid obstacles.
    Price: Free
    Attire requirements: No specific requirements

    6. Splashaway Bay

spectrum of the seas splashaway bay
Splashaway Bay is a water playground specially designed for your kiddos with waterslides, water fountains, water canons - a cool way to beat the heat.
spectrum of the seas splashaway cafe
And when the kids get hungry, the Splashaway Cafe is just beside the water park, and fully-equipped with delicious snacks (like soft serve!) to satisfy those growling tummies.
    Attire requirements: Swimwear required
Other notable kid-friendly and teen-friendly (up to the age of 17) things to do onboard include:
    • Adventure Ocean (kids program and activities)
    • Babies and Tots Program
    • Teens Get-together events

    Entertainment and Live Performances

There are a number of live performances and shows that you can catch onboard, and these performances make for great after-dinner entertainment if you are reluctant to retire to your room so early. We caught a show every night we were onboard - Gold Art Duo and Showgirl.

    7. Gold Art Duo

spectrum of the seas gold art duo
Gold Art Duo, Shpatykovskii Andrii and Knysh Levgeniia, wowed us with a mix of jaw-dropping acrobatic acts and hilarious magic tricks that left us at the edge of our seats at some moments, and chuckling away the next. They will also perform their legendary ‘Black Widow’ acrobatic act that they performed on Ukraine’s Got Talent so keep your eyes peeled for that!
How to book: Reserve via Royal Caribbean app

    8. Showgirl

    spectrum of the seas showgirl
Showgirl was the perfect way to end our last night onboard, with spectacular singing and dancing from the extremely talented cast (Boy have we missed live performances indeed!) We really enjoyed all the energetic choreography along with the outrageously flashy, colourful costumes. Showgirl is unapologetically glamorous and their sensational performances are sure to keep you enthralled throughout.

    Others:

    9. North Star

spectrum of the seas north star
Can’t get enough of the sea view? Savour scenic, panoramic views from over 100 metres above sea level and enjoy a bird’s eye view at North Star, a viewing observation capsule.

It’s also the winner of the Guinness World Record for tallest viewing deck on a cruise ship!

    10. Solarium

    spectrum of the seas solarium
Adult-only Solarium is god-sent (especially for exhausted parents in need of some alone time). This tranquil space with a pool for soaking in and a couple of bubbly jacuzzis around. Leave your kids at Adventure Ocean then grab a cocktail, sit back, soak those worries away and enjoy the view. *Bliss*
Note: Royal Suite guests have a separate exclusive lounging area at the Solarium

    11. Casino and Royal Esplanade

    spectrum of the seas casino
Feelin baller? Spectrum of the Seas also has a casino for you to try your luck at the many game tables and slot machines. There are also shopping “streets” aka the Royal Esplanade onboard selling Spectrum of the Seas merchandise (if you’re looking for a little souvenir) as well as other brands like Tiffany and Co, Omega and Cartier.

Restaurants and Dining Establishments on Spectrum of the Seas

There are both complimentary and specialty dining establishments on Spectrum of the Seas. Silver and Gold Dining Rooms are also complimentary for Royal Suite guests. Here’s what we tried:

    12. Windjammer Marketplace

    spectrum of the seas windjammer
    spectrum of the seas windjammer
Windjammer Marketplace is the ship’s main buffet dining area that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
    spectrum of the seas windjammer
Take your pick from the wide variety from salads and soups to a pasta station as well as Indian cuisine, Chinese cuisine, desserts, cakes, fruits and more. The best bit? Enjoying your meal with an ocean view!
    Price: Free

    13. Sorrento’s - Authentic New York Pizzeria

    spectrum of the seas sorrentos
Can’t go wrong with pizza - and at Sorrento’s you can have a slice anytime (it is open till 2am!). We tried pepperoni and hawaiian, but there are also other options like vegetarian and just cheese if you don’t eat meat.
    Price: Free

    14. SeaPlex Dog House

spectrum of the seas dog house
Located inside SeaPlex itself, the Dog House is great for an afternoon snack after all your fun and games. We recommend enjoying your hotdogs al fresco at the deck for a *chef’s kiss* experience.
    Price: Free

    15. Silver Dining Room

spectrum of the seas silver dining
The Silver Dining area offers a smaller buffet line as well as ala carte dishes that you can order by scanning the QR code menu. In essence, it offers a bit more atas vibes as compared to what you will get at Windjammer. We tried the Sirloin steak and steamed prawns and appetizers like calamari and crab cake. There’s also a kid’s menu here so your little ones can enjoy dishes like macaroni and cheese and banana split too!
Price: Free as we are Sea class members

    16. The Hot Pot

spectrum of the seas hot pot
On our last night we decided to splash out and dine at one of the specialty dining restaurants, and ended up at The Hot Pot for some delicious steamboat goodness.
You can choose from three different soups - Chicken soup, tomato soup and spicy beef oil, and we tried all three soup bases. The spicy beef oil was more of “xiao la” level, so ask for more spice if you want to take it up a notch. The chicken soup base is your basic comfort  broth (good for kids) and the tomato soup was a salty version instead of the sweeter notes that we are more used to at Hai Di lao and Beauty in the Pot.
Ingredients-wise you get to pick and choose your veggies, noodles, eggs and the like at a buffet line (there’s also a condiments bar!) but no beancurd roll (sad). While for the mains, you can order unlimited servings of meat or seafood platters which come with beef, lamb, meatballs and har kow for the former, and a variety of fish, prawns, mussels and fishballs for the latter. There’s also the option to top up for premium ingredients like crab legs, lobster and wagyu beef if you’re feeling extra fancy.

Other specialty dining establishments onboard that you can look out for:

    Restaurant

    Cuisine

    Sichuan Red

Exclusive to Spectrum of the Seas that specialises in Sichuan cuisine

    Bionic Bar

Cool robot bartender that mixes drinks for you

    Chops Grille

    Royal Caribbean’s popular signature steakhouse

    Wonderland

Imaginative cuisine with elements that include molecular gastronomy

    Leaf & Bean

Traditional tea room and café parlour that offers Chinese teas, classic coffee drinks as well as freshly baked Chinese and western desserts and pastries

    Izumi

    Specialising in sushi and sashimi
