Klook’s 72 Hour Staycation Nation Flash Sale
In December 2020, we asked Singaporeans from all walks of life why they’re hooked on staycations and their staycation preferences. Here’s what we found out.

Deepest thought #1: 9 in 10 couples who are married or in a relationship desperately want staycations for more intimate time
With the majority of Singaporeans living in apartments with other family members, it comes as no surprise that couples, married or in a relationship, are desperate for private space for more intimacy.
According to the survey, 9 in 10 couples would go for a staycation just to have a more intimate time with their partners. The same percentage of respondents would also go for a staycation to celebrate a special occasion with their significant other.
8 in 10 married respondents have also expressed that they would like a staycation to escape from their children and take a well-deserved break. Balancing parenting with work can be stressful for today’s parents, hence it is no surprise that parents need time alone to recharge.

Deepest thought #2: 99% of married respondents want a staycation with their children, but many secretly want to escape from them too
Singaporean parents are fiercely dedicated to their children, 99% of married respondents said that they want to go for a staycation with their children to enjoy relaxation time for both parents and children, as well as parents enjoying some ‘me-time’ while the children enjoy the child-friendly facilities.

Respondents want to strike a balance between complete ‘me-time’ and time with friends. Regardless of marital status, 60% of Singaporeans are eager to give a solo staycation a try, with the majority citing much needed personal time as their top reason.

Singaporeans’ top considerations for booking a staycation package include early check-in/late check-out (74%), complimentary room upgrades (73%), hotel amenities that they want (65%), and being close to an attraction or experience they want to do (62%).

It is also interesting to note that the top three staycation must-haves for an enjoyable staycation experience are good food, a bathtub, and a swimming pool.
