What to wear for the best teamLab Borderless experience

You'll be walking around a lot in the museum, so we recommend wearing clothes that are easy to move in and shoes that are easy to walk in!
For those who want to take photogenic pictures, wearing white or plain-coloured clothing is ideal, as it allows you to blend into the canvas of projected images and stand out even in dim lighting.

Wearing black clothes is also good for taking photos within brightly illuminated artworks as it will create a striking impact amidst the light.

Some areas have floors that act as mirrors, so it's best to wear pants instead of a skirt. But even if you wear a skirt, there are clothes available for rent near the artworks that use mirrors, so feel free to ask the staff.

teamLab Borderless in Azabudai Hills Opening Hours

    • 10:00-21:00 (Last admission is one hour before closing)
    • Closed on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.

How much time will I need to explore teamLab Borderless in Azabudai Hills?

teamLab, Universe of Water Particles, Transcending Boundaries / Flowers and People, Cannot be Controlled but Live Together © teamLab
teamLab, Universe of Water Particles, Transcending Boundaries / Flowers and People, Cannot be Controlled but Live Together © teamLab
It's best to explore the museum for at least 3 hours or more!
We entered at 6pm and thought we were walking relatively quickly, but before we knew it, it was already closing time at 9pm.
Some might want to spend at least half a day there, so if you enter nearer to closing time, you might not experience the museum fully.
You will need to decide the entry time when purchasing tickets, but again, there is no time limit for staying inside the museum.
Klook Tip: We'll explain this in detail later when introducing the art installations, but there is also a 'tea room' where you can enjoy more digital and interactive artworks, so make sure to allot enough time for that as well.

TeamLab Borderless Art Installations to Expect

    teamlab Borderless アートの中の人々
As the name suggests, teamLab Borderless in Azabudai Hills is an art space consisting of artworks without boundaries. This unique world, where various elements blend together, is made up of numerous intricate pieces, so here we will introduce a selection of highlights from among them.

    1. Borderless World

In Borderless World, there are no boundaries between artworks. Each piece creates a new world while being influenced by other works. Here are some selected installations from within that realm!
"Universe of Water Particles on a Rock where People Gather" is a novel art piece. It is meticulously calculated to change the movement of water based on the shape of the rocks and the people standing there, creating a new sensory experience.

When you lean against the wall, the water flows away from your body. It creates such a happy atmosphere with all the flowers blooming around you.
    teamlab Borderless アートにとけ込む女性(ひまわり)
Sometimes kanji will appear on the wall, so feel free to touch them! A video will appear that matches the text. If you choose "Bird," the bird will flap its wings, and if you choose "Firefly," you will be surrounded by the gentle light of fireflies.
The scenery continues to change according to people's movements, so you may never see the scenery that unfolds before your eyes again. Its fragility enhances the beauty of this work.
    teamlab Borderless アートにとけ込む女性
There are numerous other artworks in this area alone, such as "Flowers and People" at the Megalith Crystal Formation exhibition.
The message "Wander, Explore, Discover" is displayed at the entrance of teamLab Borderless, and that is exactly what you'll experience here.

While going around, follow your curiosity and enter various rooms!

One exhibition to look out for is Megalith Crystal Formation. It's an exhibit that is sure to leave visitors in awe. This interactive installation features a series of towering, digital crystals that respond to human presence. If there's a particular piece you definitely want to see, ask the staff. They will tell you where to go!
Another must-experience artwork is Crystal World, which is still in Borderless World. It's a sensory installation that expresses the terrestrial world through a collective assembly of lights.

    2. Bubble Universe: Physical Light, Bubbles of Light, Wobbling Light, and Environmental Light

The Bubble Universe is also an exclusive installation! We liked this artwork the most from teamLab Borderless. Quite impressive.

Since the number of people allowed inside is limited, you can take beautiful photos without worrying about other people being seen in it.
If you stand still near the spheres, the nearest one to you will start to shine brightly, so be sure to enjoy that moment. The light from the shining sphere will then spread to the other spheres from there.

    3. Light Sculpture

In the Light Sculpture room, artworks change one after another. Try immersing yourself in the world right in front of you, where things change every 1 to 3 minutes.

The artworks are also impressive even when viewed from behind.

    4. Microcosmoses - Wobbling Light

Microcosmoses is also a new addition that you cannot find in the previous Borderless in Odaiba. We were impressed by its immense scale.
    teamlab Borderless 幾何学的な光と女性の後ろ姿
    teamlab Borderless 幾何学的な光
As described on the official website, "Countless wobbling lights run continuously through a space that infinitely expands, of which the depth cannot be comprehended." It's exactly as described. It feels like the ceiling stretches on forever...
It's a piece where you can leisurely enjoy the infinite world.

    5. Learn! Future Park / Sketch Ocean

In Sketch Ocean, the creatures you draw become part of the artwork and come to life.
Be sure to touch the fish swimming around. They'll be surprised and swim away, just like real fish! If you touch the food bag, you can even feed the fish.
    teamlab Borderless 海中アートと女性
Fun fact - this Sketch Ocean is connected to the world, and sometimes the drawings you create here might swim over to Sketch Oceans in different countries.
You might even encounter friends from other countries! So cool!

    6. EN TEA HOUSE

When your senses are stimulated and you need a break, why not try relaxing in the tea rooms inside the museum?
Of course, these are not just ordinary tea rooms. As you sip your tea, seasonal flowers bloom and come to life inside the teacup.
    teamlab Borderless 花びら
As long as there is tea, the flowers bloom infinitely. And when you pick up the cup, the flowers spread outward, giving you a magical experience where you feel as if you are one with the work.
    teamlab Borderless カフェメニュー
You can also enjoy unique drinks here that you can't find anywhere else, such as "Roasted Green Tea Chamomile Latte" and "Cold Brew Yuzu Green Tea."
    teamlab Borderless 利用可能な支払い方法
They accept various cashless payment methods too such as credit cards, Suica, and PayPay.

Don't forget to check out the entrance as well!

If you use a camera to view the space at designated spots in the entrance area, the words "teamLab Borderless" will appear to float above! And if you look with the naked eye without using a camera, there's nothing there... It's a cool spot where you can feel the difference between the flattening effect of the lens and spatial perception by the naked eye.

Create memories to take home at the Sketch Factory

    teamlab Borderless グッズ一覧
You can turn the drawings you made at the Learn! Future Park, Sketch Ocean into items such as can badges or T-shirts at the Sketch Factory and take them home! Since you've taken the time, effort, and skills to draw, it's very satisfying to be able to enjoy it as a lasting memory.

#KlookTip: Download the app for more fun!

    teamlab Borderless スマホガイド
Since there are no maps or guide captions for the artworks inside the facility, it's recommended to download the teamLab app in advance.
\With the app, you can read information about each artwork while moving around.
    teamlab Borderless スマホガイド②
By using the app, you can also participate in the Crystal World artwork.

    teamLab Borderless Instagrammable Photos

Photos taken at teamLab Borderless are guaranteed to be Instagrammable! We'll introduce some great photos and highlights from our visit.
In Borderless World, the key is to stand so that the projection can be seen from behind. Images will also look better if you wear simple (white, plain) clothing.
Another great aspect of three-dimensional artworks is that you can capture different structures and art pieces using the corners where walls meet.
Klook Tip: You can take as many photos and videos as you want, just please be mindful of the following guidelines:
Allowed: Taking photos, videos, posting on your socials
🚫 Not allowed: Monopods, tripods, selfie sticks, and flash photography
    teamlab Borderless 壁に触れる女性
If you put your hand on the mirror while taking a photo, your image will reflect in the photo, making it a magical experience captured by your camera. Silhouettes also look beautiful, and you can take stunning photos even in the dimly lit interior.

In artworks that use mirrors, try to find spots where people don't enter and where you won't be reflected.
