Ready to step into a digital rooftop forest?
You may have been to or seen pictures of teamLab's mesmerizing exhibitions that come to life with immersive digital technology. The renowned international art collective that hails all the way from Japan has beautiful art installations at popular venues across the globe such as the National Museum of Singapore, ArtScience Museum, teamLab Borderless in Tokyo, Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, and more.
Temporary exhibitions have also planted footprints in cities like New York, London, Paris, Melbourne, Beijing, and more over the past few years. If you're up in KL for a quick getaway, A charming new teamLab light art installation has just opened at Lalaport BBCC, and the best part is that it's free! ✨
TeamLab's exhibition at Lalaport is truly magical!
Dreamily themed Resonating Microcosms, the installation will be held outdoors on the rooftop garden of the mall, and will showcase a landscape of ovoid (or in layman terms - egg-shaped) sculptures that glow gently and mysteriously in multi-colours against the night sky.
These ovoids will change appearance with the sunrise and sunset by reflecting the world around them. They will also respond to each other, as well as to the people and environment around them (including stimuli such as wind, sunlight, and rain)
This means that guests will be able to interact with these magical objects and watch them transform right in front of your eyes. You can walk around and even touch or push them to see how the ovoids react to you.
Here's a snippet from a statement released by teamLab, aimed to help visitors envision what to expect at the exhibit: "Touch one of the ovoids and watch it fall back and rise again, releasing a resonating tone and emitting a light colour specific to the sound. The surrounding ovoids will also start echoing the same tonal quality and colour as their neighbours."
The Resonating Microcosms installation will essentially be an exciting experimentation of the concept of colour and sound, and the ovoids will apparently have the capability to change into a total of 61 newly-defined light colours. 🌈
Also, while we believe the mysterious ovoids will look more dazzling as they glow in the dark, you can also visit the exhibition during the day, and see the reflection of the surrounding environment on their mirrored surfaces. The above day and night photos are from a similar installation nestled within an acorn forest of Musashino, a city located in the west of Tokyo.
