After being opened to the public in 2019, Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi quickly became one of the Emirate’s top tourist destinations. With its literal translation being Palace of the Nation, Qasr Al Watan serves as an important cultural monument that showcases the spirit of the UAE’s people and leaders. Its striking limestone facade and crystal-adorned halls also make the palace a marvel of architecture and design.
Qasr Al Watan is the perfect destination for those who appreciate history, culture, and aesthetics. Sounds like the perfect weekend plan in Abu Dhabi? Before you go, here’s everything you know about the opulent palace:
What is Qasr Al Watan?
This grand manor, a working presidential palace completed in 2017, houses government functions and hosts foreign dignitaries. In 2019, it was open to the public for tourism to give insight into the rich Arab culture. Here, tourists can learn about the fascinating history of the United Arab Emirates.
Aside from being a cultural artifact, the Qasr Al Watan is also a feast for the eyes, with grandeur at every turn. Its stunning ivory facade is made of white granite and limestone, and its Presidential Banquet is embellished with hundreds of thousands of silver, crystal, and china pieces. Its exterior is equally matched with its lush, masterfully landscaped gardens.
