Artists at Work: The Mia Staff Art Show

Not all the art at Mia comes from outside---it's created by some of our very own employees too! This exhibition shines a light on their amazing work.

The Staff Art Show was put together by Team Mia, a special group of museum staff dedicated to making our workplace positive and friendly. They create chances for us to bond, grow, and appreciate each other. We're excited to show off the incredible talent within our own Mia family!

City Views

Towards the end of the 1400s, pictures of European cities started showing up more often in print. Some of these images make you feel as if you're standing on a hill, gazing out at the city and countryside. Others give you a top-down view. Mia is lucky to have important pieces from this period, like The Nuremberg Chronicle (1493), which depicts many cities, and Jacopo de Barbari's View of Venice (1500), showing the island city in amazing detail and size. These artworks, like the early version of Google Earth, provide a unique and special way to connect with the beauty and character of those places that modern maps can't quite capture.
