our Tuktuk driver Mr. Phalla is very nice and accommodating. He picked us up at the hotel at the arranged time. He also always gives cold water and always checks if we are okay. This itinerary is very good as it is not very crowded, so we enjoyed the most of attractions without spending so much time queueing up. I think the only downside is that the food at the restaurant we went. The price is not on par with the taste. But overall, it is a very wonderful experience!

I booked a Sunset tour but unfortunalely there are not enough participants for that day. the tour operator asked me if I could do the Sunrise tour instead. My tour of Angkor Wat was a wonderful experience, thanks to our excellent guide, Mr. Karona. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and significance of the temple complex, and his enthusiasm for the subject matter made the tour both educational and enjoyable. Mr. Karona's friendly demeanor and storytelling skills brought the site to life in a way that I found very engaging. I would highly recommend his tour services to anyone visiting Angkor Wat.

Our Guide Sotin is very knowledgeable and freely provided us with insightful information about Angkor Wat and Cambodia. He takes great picture and very considerate with our group. He contacted us a day before the tour and arrived even earlier from the pick-up time. And our driver Chamroeun, drove us around safely and gave us cold water everytime we go back to the van.

10000/10 service!! Tour guide was able to speak perfect english and was very nice (tysm Ms. Borey. We will never forget u!). Since we were only four tourists in this sunset tour, we were able to go to more than 5 temples plus to the mountain where you will see the beautiful sunset (yes, we were very lucky and tired 🤣) If you don’t have ticket for the angkor tour yet, they drop and wait for you at the tourist ticketing office. Pickup and drop off to the hotel is also included. They also gave lots of water and cold towel before or/and after going to each temple. They also dropped us at a nice resto.

Remarkable Landmarks and Must-Visit Sights

Main Temple Complex

The centerpiece of Angkor Wat, the main temple complex, is a stunning example of Khmer architecture. It features a quincunx of towers, extensive bas-reliefs, and intricate carvings that depict scenes from Hindu mythology.

Bas-Reliefs

Admire the detailed bas-reliefs that adorn the walls of Angkor Wat. These carvings illustrate epic tales from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, as well as historical events and celestial beings.

Moat and Outer Wall

Encircling the temple complex is a vast moat and an outer wall, creating a serene and majestic setting. The moat symbolizes the cosmic ocean surrounding Mount Meru, the mythical home of the gods.

Cultural and Historical Significance

Angkor Wat was built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu. It later transformed into a Buddhist temple, reflecting the region's religious evolution. The temple's architecture symbolizes Mount Meru, and its extensive bas-reliefs and devatas showcase the artistic prowess of the Khmer Empire.

UNESCO World Heritage Site

Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, Angkor Wat is recognized for its cultural and historical importance. It stands as a symbol of Cambodia, even depicted on the national flag.

Restoration Efforts

Over the years, Angkor Wat has undergone significant restoration efforts to preserve its grandeur. International teams from countries like France, India, Japan, and China have contributed to its conservation.

Culture and History

Angkor Wat and its surrounding temples are a testament to the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Khmer Empire. Built between the 9th and 15th centuries, these temples were originally dedicated to Hindu gods before being converted to Buddhist shrines. Today, they stand as a UNESCO World Heritage site, attracting millions of visitors each year.

Local Cuisine

Siem Reap offers a delightful culinary experience with a mix of traditional Khmer dishes and international cuisine. Don't miss trying Amok, a fragrant fish curry steamed in banana leaves, or Lok Lak, a stir-fried beef dish served with a tangy dipping sauce. For a more immersive experience, visit the local markets and street food stalls.
