Ordinary Car (Non-reserved Seat)
The price of an ordinary car non-reserved seat on a Shinkansen is the same as the combined charges for a normal fare and a non-reserved seat limited express fare. For example, a regular season ticket from Tokyo to Osaka costs 14,300 yen for an Ordinary Car non-reserved seat.
Ordinary Car (Reserved Seat)
The seat reservation fee only applies to Ordinary Car (reserved seats). The seat reservation fee ranges from 330, 530, 730, or 930 yen, depending on the season and travel date—whether it's high, regular, or low season. In the case of Mizuho, Hayabusa, and Komachi trains, an additional portion of the fee is distance-dependent, ranging from 100 to 620 yen.
